The Takoradi International Company (TICO) on Tuesday organised a medical outreach programme for the people of Aboadze and Abuesi at Abuesi.
The company distributed mosquitoes nets to the people who were screened for ear and eye diseases as well as for malaria. Children were also weighed at the programme.
Speaking at the function, Nana Osafo Kantanka, General Manager of TICO said the company organised the programme to help improve the health of the people to enable them contribute towards the development of their communities and the country.
He advised the people to keep their environment clean to help them to be healthy at all times.
Nana Kantanka said provision of good education and health are top priorities of the company and it is for this reason, the company organises medical outreach programmes for people and awards scholarships to brilliant but needy children in areas it operates as a social responsibility.
Doctor Robert Sagoe, Deputy Director of Clinical Services, urged the people to take advantage of the screening programme to check their health status.
He advised the pregnant women and the children to sleep under mosquito nets to protect them from malaria.
Dr Sagoe asked them to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme to enable them access health care.
Mr Joseph Amoah, District Chief Executive for Shama, said TICO has been helping the district for the past seven years in many ways and urged the company to continue same.
