Seven Convention People’s Party (CPP) parliamentary candidates in the Ashanti Region who contested the December 7 general election, have declared their support for Professor John Evans Atta Mills in the presidential run-off.
They are, Mr. Yaw Nkunim, Manhyia, Frederick Antwi-Nsiah, Suame, Marfo K. Dwomoh, Subin, Kwaku Baah Bonsu, Asokwa, Issah Abdul Salam, Tafo, Afful Hayford Manso, Oforikrom, all in the Kumasi Metropolis and Joseph Sanwok of the Ejura-Sekyedumase constituency.
Announcing this at a press conference in Kumasi on Friday, they said after a critical analysis, they decided to support Professor Atta Mills in the run-off in their individual capacities.
Mr. Nkunim told the press that they were all full members of the CPP and former parliamentary candidates and since the party was not vying for any position in the run-off they have the freedom to support either Professor Mills or Nana Akufo-Addo in the interest of the nation.
He said their decision was based on principles realizing that CPP did not preach change for itself and to put Ghana on a higher stage of development needed somebody who is peace-loving, honest and capable of leading the nation and they felt that Prof. Atta Mills is the right choice.
They called on those who supported them in the December elections to also throw their weight behind Prof. Atta Mills and vote for him.
