Supporters of both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC), mostly the youth, jubilated on the streets in the Cape Coast, shortly after the counting of votes of the presidential runoff at the various polling stations.
Ghana News Agency observed pockets of people, including the elderly, discussing the performance of the NDC and NPP in the runoff.
Some people were seen watching television sets in shops, keeping track of activities of the runoff in parts of the country.
In some places, people were seen holding small radio sets listening to reports of provisional results of the election with others celebrating or drinking-off their disappointment in bars where music is being played at high volume.
The atmosphere at Cape Coast was generally calm with people waiting anxiously for the announcement of the final certified results of the runoff.
