The National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Peter Mac Manu has described as disruptive of the democratic process Joy FM’s projection of the winner of the presidential run-off.
He dismissed Joy FM’s projection of the NDC’s Prof. Mills as the winner of the polls.
Addressing a news conference shortly after the projection, Mr. Mac Manu said the projection was speculative and premature.
“While Joy concedes that there are still seven constituencies with 458, 813 votes still outstanding they believe that the NPP candidate Nana Akufo-Addo cannot obtain the votes he needs from the remaining constituencies to win presidency.”
He said the Electoral Commission itself had certified far fewer constituencies than Joy adding most of the constituencies announced by Joy were not certified by the appropriate authorities.
Mr Mac Manu said in the face of several challenges against the results from certain areas, it improper for Joy FM to announce a winner.
He served notice the party will challenge results from regions it believes the process were seriously flawed.
“The contest in a number of regions, particularly in the Volta Region, have been marred by significant irregularities including the barring of many NPP agents from polling stations to monitor and thus be able to certify results.”
