Two security officers of Sinohydro Company working on the Bui Dam Project, charged with stealing, have been remanded in police custody by the Techiman Circuit Court. The accused, Peter Manu, 50 and Siaka Isaah, 26, who pleaded not guilty to the charge of conspiracy to commit crime and stealing, will reappear on March 19.Prosecuting, Inspector John Amponsah told the court, presided by Mr. Michael Cudjoe Ntumy, that the company imported 40 dumper trucks and parked them at the yard near the construction site of the Bui Dam.He said on February 26 this year it was detected that one of the dumper trucks had disappeared and checks revealed that the accused were not on duty at the site.Inspector Amponsah said management arranged a meeting and that Manu, upon hearing of the meeting, packed his belongings and bolted from the site. His behaviour aroused suspicion so the police was alerted and Manu and Siaka were arrested at Wenchi. Two other accomplices are said to be on the run.Source: GNA
