Contact tracing for all the six persons diagnosed with the novel coronavirus in Ghana is progressing steadily, the Health Service boss has said.
Dr Patrick Aboagye, speaking to Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Monday, revealed a significant number of the contacts have been reached.
He said the contact tracing team reached some whereas some of the contacts themselves reached out to the team.
Dr Aboagye says when they find a contact, they have to explain to some of them the reason for contacting them.
They then get them tested and teach them how to self-isolate.
The health authorities also constantly monitor the identified contacts to ensure they are complying with the self-quarantine directives, Dr Aboagye noted.
His comments come after the Health Service announced over the weekend that four more cases have been recorded in Ghana, bringing the total number of cases to six.
According to the GHS, all of these are imported cases.
Schools, churches and other places of mass gathering have been asked to shut down. In sports, the premier league has been suspended.
Travel to Ghana from countries which have recorded more than 200 cases of the pandemic has also been banned.
