A DAF transit bus with a Nigerian registration number carrying 55 passengers has been refused entry at the Segbe/Kpoglu border checkpoint of the Ghana-Togo border.
According to a passenger who spoke to JoyNews, they were travelling from Ivory coast en route to Nigeria.
They reached the Segbe/Kpoglu border on Sunday but have been refused entry making them helpless.
“We are worried and distressed because we don’t have enough money to make us stay a bit longer and our families are also worried back home in Nigeria” he lamented.
The MCE for Ketu South, Edem Elliot Agbenorwu however has tried negotiating with the Togo officials to allow the passengers to enter Togo but his efforts yielded no results, as they remain stranded at the border.
Meanwhile, the MCE is worried that the continued stay of people around the border poses a threat to public health of the local community as coronavirus continues to spread in Africa.
