Hundreds of Ghanaians have benefitted from a charitable work undertaken by businessman, Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar.
The business mogul distributed bags of rice, water, bottles of oil among other things to persons with disabilities, widowed and the less privileged in Accra, one of the areas noted an epicenter for the coronavirus pandemic in Ghana.

The exercise which took place ahead of the lockdown saw visits to the Black Stars Square, Jamestown and some parts of Dansoman.

Mr Bediako said the gesture was motivated by his desire to help the beneficiaries cope with the President's directive that would bar them from doing activities that would usually earn them their daily bread.
“We are Ghanaians, Africans, black people and we are not that rich like other nations. I know some people will find it very hard to eat and drink so I decided to come to the streets to the less privileged areas to share my little with those who don’t have food and money to sustain the next two weeks,” said the CEO of Wonda World Properties Limited.

Advising the adherence to the advice of regular handwashing, use of alcohol-based sanitisers, social distancing and staying home, the real estate developer was confident about Ghana’s chances of curbing the spread of the virus.
He expressed belief in the measures put in place by the government and was convinced that Ghana will sail through the storm successfully with God on its side.
“I share and understand their pain and I pray that God will not let this disease overtake our country. I pray that in the next two weeks everybody gets something to eat. The disabled, abled, the ones without money and without money, I pray for everyone. It’s the first time we are all going through this in the world and I’m here to be with them. I believe that the government, without support will defeat this enemy”, he said.

The lockdown of some parts of the country began March 30 with general reports of compliance to the directive.
To help the state mitigate the impact of the virus on the social and economic well-being of Ghanaians, the government has set up a fund.
President Akufo-Addo, who donated a three-months' salary to the fund has been appealing to everyone to contribute their widow’s mite to the fund.
President Akufo-Addo also urged benevolent Ghanaians and institutions to help the needy and alleviate them of them burden attached to the pandemic.
