The Education Ministry has partnered with waste management company Zoomlion to fumigate and disinfect schools in the Western Region.
The exercise began simultaneously across eight schools in the capital; Sekondi-Takoradi Municipality.
JoyNews caught up with the team at St Johns School in Sekondi where dormitories, classrooms and the dining hall were being disinfected.

Abdullah Abdallah, the Western Regional General Manager of Zoomlion said their main targets were bed bugs and the new coronavirus.
He said they had two chemicals which they are using for these respective purposes.
“We have the Pesticin for the vector and chlorine solution for the virus and germs,” said Abdallah.
He said when they are done with schools in the Sekondi-Takoradi Municipality, they will move to other parts of the Region.
Francis Ofori Siaw, the Assistant Headmaster of St. Johns School, speaking to JoyNews, expressed optimism about the results of the exercise.
He said bed bugs, for instance are not comfortable to live with, especially in an academic setting, therefore, the exercise will “go a long way to improve teaching and learning.”
