As nations prepare to ease and gradually remove restrictions that were imposed to stem the spread of the coronavirus, health experts say common containment plans must be detailed for use, particularly in the West African sub-region.
Politicians and decision makers have been urged to push for, and demand neighboring countries have in place strategies that would efficiently stem the spread of the virus before resuming economic activities.
In an interview with JoyNews' Latif Iddris, Director of Institutional Care Division at the Ghana Health Service Dr. Samuel Kaba Akoriyea said, the treatment protocol in Ghana is high, therefore placing the country and its neighbors on different levels.
Hence, the need for solidarity efforts to contain Covid-19 within the ECOWAS sub-region.
There are concerns that treatment protocol in Ghana makes the country an attractive destination for Covid-19 patients of other West African nations to troop in to enjoy the freebies associated with coronavirus treatment.
Opening of the borders will, therefore, be a perfect window for foreigners to come into the country which in turn will erode the gains Ghana has made in managing the pandemic.
