President Akufo-Addo has announced the reopening of schools for final year students at all levels of education on Monday, June 15, 2020.
He said after an engagement with the various teacher unions, government has decided to allow final-year students to go back to school to prepare for their final examinations.
In his 10th Address to the nation on measures taken by government to ease restrictions, President Akufo-Addo said all other levels of education will remain closed to students.
Final year university students will resume classes on June 15 whiles Form 3 Senior High School students as well as Form 2 SHS students on Gold Track will reopen on June 22, 2020.
A week later, Form 3 Junior High School students will also return to school to prepare for their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Ensuring social distancing in schools, the President further directed JHS 3 classes to comprise a maximum of 30 students; SHS classes a maximum of 25 students, and University lectures will take place with half the class sizes.
All final year students of educational and training institutions, which are
being managed by Ministries other than the Education Ministry, are to return to school on June 15 to complete their exit examinations.
Prior to the resumption, various educational facilities are to be fumigate and disinfect whiles each student, teacher, and non-teaching staff provided with re-usable face masks by the Ministry of Education.
