North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has praised his former boss Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as result-oriented and a good fit for a running mate for John Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer.
The MP expressed confidence in the academic’s ability to support the former president to secure victory in the upcoming elections on December 7.
"She is somebody who is just interested in results is not about the thrills and spills, razzmatazz, noisemaking. She is just interested in getting the job done,” Mr Ablakwa told JoyNews' Evans Mensah, Monday.
According to him, her laurels in the field of academia in addition to her dedication to serving the country as proven in her track record shows her capacity for such a position.
"He clearly has gone for a safe pair of hands, an achiever, a woman of integrity, a role model for many a woman who has spent her years moulding generations of future leaders," he touted her achievements.
The former Deputy Education Minister Ablakwa admitted the impact she has made on him.
"I worked with her closely and she had a positive impact on me and all of us who served under her when she was Minister of Education," he said.
This comes after the former Education Minister was unveiled as the NDC's Vice-Presidential candidate.
Her candidacy was revealed at a meeting of the NDC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) at the party’s headquarters at Adabraka in Accra Monday.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang is a veteran educationist and the first female first Vice Chancellor of a public university of Ghana after she was appointed to head University of Cape Coast (UCC) in 2008.
