The Electoral Commission (EC) has confirmed figures of registrants submitted to its headquarters from two districts in the Ashanti Region were over-computed.
Regional Director, Benjamin Bannor Bio, explained the anomaly was detected in returns for the first six days for Sekyere South and Offinso North.
He blames the situation on failure of electoral officers to file daily reports but rather submitted accumulated figures.
The explanation is in response accusation by the NDC the EC is padding figures in favour of the governing NPP.
Mr. Bannor Bio says the situation has already been ratified together with political parties agents at the various centers.
Speaking to Nhyira Fm’s Kofi Asante Ennin on Kroyi mu Nsem, Mr. Bio attributed the situation to lack of communication
He adds “the NDC regional secretary Kwame Zu personally called me and l explained everything to him on phone so am surprise they continue to see it as a big case”.
Mr. Bannor Bio explains “all tabulated figures remains provisional and has no direct consequences on the final figures which would be automatically generated by the registration machines after the exercise”.
He assures all interested stakeholders of much transparency in the exercise.
