Honorary Vice President of think tank, IMANI Africa, Bright Simons has urged the Electoral Commission as a matter of urgency embark on a reconciliation exercise.
Speaking on Newsfile Saturday, he said the Commission has consistently failed to accommodate the concerns of major stakeholders involved in the electoral process.
"The EC has to embark on wide-ranging reconciliation exercise. Going into this particular exercise and for the last year and a half, this is the most divisive electoral process in my two decades of observing Ghanaian politics," he claims.
Mr Simons said it will be in the interest of the election management body and for the peace and security of the country that they hold a national dialogue to address the numerous challenges fronting the electoral process especially the just ended nationwide voters' registration exercise.
There has been wide spread of alleged voter suppression, military intimidation and violence recorded at registration centres.
Also, there was lack of consensus in the compilation of the new electoral roll which took a Supreme Court greenlight for the EC to conduct exercise.
These concerns Mr Simons wants addressed as well as challenges the EC claimed to be associated with the old voters' register for which reason a new roll was compiled.
"The EC has to start embarking on a massive reconciliation exercise with major opposition parties, with some Civil Society Organisations etc.
"This has been the non-inclusive process we have seen towards our elections since we returned to democracy," IMANI Africa Vice President said.
He also called on the Electoral Commission to stop the self-praise, be transparent and engage the stakeholders.
