The Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive has advised final year students preparing for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to be studious and resist the urge to loiter about aimlessly, ahead of their BECE exam.

Justina Owusu-Banahene said this will enable them to score good grades in the exam and also protect them from contracting the deadly coronavirus disease.

As the BECE begins on September 14, she reminded the candidates about the need to be disciplined and concentrate on their studies.

She gave the advice during her visit to some basic schools in the Municipality on Monday to interact with the final year students.

She told the students that though Covid-19 has brought changes in the way of life of everyone, that should not affect or ruin their studies.

She further noted that, until the students passed the BECE, they would not have the opportunity to benefit from government's Free Senior High School (FSHS) programme, therefore, they needed to put in their best to ensure continuity of their education.

Among the schools she visited was the Islamic JHS, High Street JHS, Sacred Heart JHS, Sunyani Business College Model JHS and others.

The MCE also admonished the students against all forms of examination malpractices, which could subsequently lead to the cancellation of their results and jeopardise their future.

Madam Owusu-Banahene told them they were going to write what they had already learnt in school, therefore there was no need to panic, rather, ensure that they read through all the questions before they attempted to tackle their choice.
