NPP Parliamentary candidate for Banda, Joe Danquah, has denied having a hand in the violence that ensued at his constituency during the voters' registration exercise.
His reaction comes after the NDC leaked a tape claiming to be the voice of the Deputy Bono East Regional Minister inciting party vigilantes to perpetrate violent acts during the voters’ registration exercise.
Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the party’s General Secretary, said the leaked audio captures Gyarko Oti ordering a section of the Invisible and Delta Forces to do everything they must to disenfranchise people, particularly in NDC strongholds.
Addressing a press conference, he also alleged that Joe Danquah helped bring in the 66 Ivorians who were caught to register.
However, speaking on Joy FM's Newsnight programme on Thursday, the NPP parliamentary candidate said Mr Aseidu Nketia’s statements are characterised with lies.
He told Emefa Apawu, on the show, that he rather suffered an attack under the hands of NDC goons led by the brother of the constituency's MP, Ahmed Ibrahim.
"It is unfortunate Mr Aseidu Nketia has been noted for lying. I have never transported anybody to register," he stated.
Mr Danquah claimed that NDC also mounted barriers and attacked NPP troupes who were monitoring the exercise.
"I can show you pictures of the kind of things the NDC did to our people and up till today not one NDC guy has been arrested."
He stated that he was shocked Mr Asiedu Nketia and the NDC are trying to offload their deeds on the NPP.
