Lydia Forson is not pleased with the recent popularity the media platforms and Ghanaians are giving Kwame Owusu Fodjour popularly called Dr UN who organised an alleged fake UN awards.
According to her, his actions may have been funny the first time he went viral after his award scheme was exposed but it is dangerous for society to enable such behaviour.
“Why is this DR-UN being given platforms and hailed as some kind of hero, even if it’s just for laughs. So it’s not funny anymore,” she wrote in a Facebook post.
On Friday, August 28, one Dr Owusu Fordjour organised an award show titled the ‘Global Blueprint Excellence Award’ in Accra at the Alisa Hotel.
The award he had alleged was an initiative backed by the UN and the Kofi Annan Foundation. He claimed it was rewarding celebrated people in the society for their impact.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, Chairman Wontumi, D-Black, Sarkodie, Bella Mundi, Deputy Minister of Health Oko Boye, Nathaniel Attoh and many others are among people who had been award.
However, after investigations by some journalists and Twitter users, it emerged that the award scheme had nothing to do with the UN or Kofi Annan.
Although many agree his actions were uncalled for Dr UN seem to be on media tours. He has also been mobbed by Ghanaians on the streets of Accra.
Lydia Forson stated that there does not seem to be any repercussions for poorly behaved adults like Dr UN.
