The Greater Accra Regional Police Command says its personnel have gunned down two suspected armed robbers around St. John’s SHS in Accra.
In a police report, the Command said one of the suspects had pulled out a pistol when he was confronted by the police, hence the shootout.
Giving more details, the report said the Mile 7 police received a distress call from a gentleman who had been robbed at Tantra Hills in Accra.
The victim was returning home around 10 pm on Tuesday when he was attacked by two unidentified men on a motorbike.
The two suspects met him at his gate and forced him to surrender his belongings.
Through a search conducted on him, his attackers allegedly made away with his Samsung phone and about ¢800 in cash.
They then sped off towards the Ofankor/Mile 7 main road.
The victim subsequently called the Mile 7 police assistance team resulting in the shootout and the death of the two suspects.
Meanwhile, the Police said a search on the two deceased led to the retrieval of a pistol with 7 rounds of ammunition and some cash.
Both bodies have, however, been moved and deposited at the Police Hospital for preservation, identification, and autopsy.
