Independent Presidential Candidate, Alfred Kwame Asiedu Walker has attributed the violent acts of the Youth at Odododiodio to unemployment and poverty.
Mr. Walker made this assertion during interactions with Joy News’ Araba Koomson on Tuesday, October 27, where he also alleged that the condemnable acts are masterminded by power-hungry politicians.
According to him, the recent incessant reports of violent clashes between party loyalists are the consequence of a lack of engagement in terms of employment.
“Poverty and unemployment are the banes of this issue in the country. This government employs these guys based on party loyalism and misplaced priorities and then recruits them to do their dirty works" he claimed.
On working to prevent electoral violence among the youth, he noted that his government, when voted into power, will set up the economy to ensure employment for the youth.
"When we come into power, we are going to ensure that able-bodied men and women will be gainfully employed because we believe that when they are employed, they wouldn't have time for the foolishness that politicians engage them to do," he added.
He advised that public education on the effects of electoral violence is imperative to ensuring public safety in the December 2020 general elections.
