Lower West Akyem Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Seth Oduro-Boadu has handed over a special ward to cater for patients with special needs to the Asamankese Government Hospital.
The facility was originally earmarked for a canteen, but following an appeal made by the Hospital authorities, the assembly converted it into the special ward, to improve healthcare delivery to people with special needs.
The MCE, said the facility was funded from the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) at a cost of GHC17,600.00 and assured of more interventions in line with government’s policies on health to ensure that access to quality health care was improved.
In a related development, Lower West Akyem NPP parliamentary candidate, Mr Charles Acheampong, also donated 65 hospital beds to the facility.
The Municipal Director of Health thanked them for their gesture and assured that the Hospital would put the facilities to good use to achieve the intended purpose.
