The Accra Branch of the World Lebanese Cultural Union has paid tribute to the late former President, Jerry John Rawlings.
In a statement signed by the president, Dr. Chakib Rammal, the group expressed its “deepest and heartfelt condolences to the Rawlings family, and to the people of Ghana”.
The group acknowledged the role of the former leader in cementing the nation's stability.
The Cultural Union added that the first president of the fourth republic “was a great charismatic figure who shaped Ghana and brought stability to our nation.”
“A leader, a champion, and an honorary gentleman whose legacy will forever live in our hearts,” it added.

The former Head of State died on the morning of Thursday, November 12, after a short illness at age 73.
Meanwhile, the President, Nana Akufo-Addo has declared seven days of national mourning which started Friday, November 13.
Dignitaries and friends of Mr. Rawlings have been trooping to his residence to commiserate with his family.
