A Senior Law Lecturer at the University of Ghana, Legon, has cautioned against defacing electoral related posters or notices from the Electoral Commission.
Dr Aziz Bassit Abdul Bamba says defacing such posters/notices is an offence punishable by law.
"[Such a] person is liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding 200 penalty units or to a term of imprisonment not exceeding six months," he said.
His comment comes as part of discussions on the 'Dos' and 'Don'ts' ahead of the 2020 general elections.
Already, the Law lecturer has warned voters against casting more than one ballot.
He says this is also a crime punishable by law.
He added that "a person who without any lawful excuse destroys, mutilates, defaces or removes a notice which is exhibited under the notice of this act or the regulations [as provided in the electoral laws]..., commits an offense."
Touching on other matters, Dr Bamba urged voters to report on time at polling stations on election day.
He said this is to prevent voters from being denied the opportunity to exercise their franchise.
"Voters who turn up a second past of 5 pm will be prevented from voting," he stressed.
