Some New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters have told President Akufo-Addo there is no need for him to campaign as he has already won the December 7 elections.
In a letter to the Presidency, the group stated that the President's dedication to youth-related issues and his move to empower the youth through the implementation of various socio-economic interventions have won him the votes of the youth in the country.
“The unprecedented achievements of this Nana-led government for the past four years is clear enough to win our thumbprints; for one good turn certainly deserves another.”
They described the National Democratic Congress (NDC)'s Presidential Candidate, John Mahama, and the entire NDC party as a 'Venus flytrap that is widely open to prey on its next victim'.
According to them, the erstwhile NDC government had performed abysmally in the area of youth empowerment during their term, thus must be rejected during the polls.
“When it comes to the subject of youth empowerment, our brothers in the NDC have no moral impetus at all to speak, especially in the presence of His Excellency Akufo-Addo’s government.
"The NDC-led government was the only regime in Ghana’s history where economic hardship was so unbearable for the youth that we have had to witness unions like the unemployed youth association.”
The NPP youth said President Akufo-Addo in his first term “has given us a million reasons as youth to give him four more years to do more for us as he has demonstrated a strong commitment to the growth and prosperity of the youth and the people of Ghana at large.
“It is not an exaggeration to say that there has never been a President more committed, in action, to the welfare of the Ghanaian than Nana Akufo-Addo -- at least in the fourth republic.”
They have, therefore, called for a full rejection of the NDC and their “Venus flytrap ‘politricks’” and urged other Ghanaians to support the NPP.
