Director of Electoral Services for the Electoral Commission (EC), Dr. Serebour Quaicoe says the Commission published a name reference list and not the full voters' register as being alleged by a cross section of the public.
Speaking to Newsfile host, Samson Lardy Anyenini, Dr. Serebour Quaicoe revealed that political parties have also been provided with a full detailed voters' register.
"The political parties have the register which contains all details that include names, polling stations, ages, gender and pictures.
"What we put on the system was a name reference list. I would say it is not even a complete register."
According to him, the EC in consultation with the Data Protection Commission will sit to discuss what can or cannot be made public before publishing the full voters' register ahead of the December polls.
This initiative by the Electoral Commission comes after divided opinions from Ghanaians as to why sensitive details of electorates have been made public a few days to the elections.
Dr Serebour Quaicoe noted that although the Commission accepts the sentiments of Ghanaians, it has a responsibility to fulfil its mandate as stated in the constitution.
"If anybody was offended, we are sorry but we had no choice because the law says we should. Regulation 27 of C. I 91 says that the Commission should publish it.
"If we do not publish it and somebody takes you to court, we are the very people that will say that the Electoral Commission is not law-abiding," he added.
He also stated that trained EC personnel would monitor the election in collaboration with the Election Security Taskforce.
