A 33-year-old man is in the grips of the Tafo police in the Ashanti region after allegedly stabbing his girlfriend.

According to available information, the suspect, Clement Ansah got infuriated when his girlfriend questioned why he was drunk and decided to end the relationship.

The incident which occurred on Sunday, November 29, was contained when residents in Tafo Zongo responded to a cry for help from the wounded woman.

The victim, 22-year old Deborah Asante, was subsequently rushed to the Tafo Government hospital for medical treatment after she was found bleeding profusely outside her room.

She was covered in blood from apparent stab wounds to her neck and back.

"I told him I am at liberty, and I have decided I no longer loved him, but he insisted that no woman has ever rejected him," Deborah explains.

Giving further details, Deborah said, she also warned Clement about his drinking habit and asked him to leave her alone so she can sleep.

But the drunk boyfriend rather attacked her and ried to hit her head against the wall.

She said, when she dodged and caused him to hit his fist against the wall, Clement got more infuriated.

"I threatened to have him arrested if he continues to act inappropriately in my bedroom."

"But Clement stated hysterically, that no one in the house or community could stop him from killing me, not even the police.

"Then I told him to leave the room because he does not stay here. You want me to leave the room? he questioned and I responded in the affirmative, and that, if he doesn't leave, I will ask the police to arrest him," she continued with her narration.

Continuing with her story, Deborah said she left the room to hand over a phone charger to a friend in the same compound, only to be stabbed multiple times immediately after she returned to the room.

She told JoyNews, she has been in the relationship for five months.

According to Deborah, "it was a good start in the beginning because Clement treated her with kindness."

"Clement only changed when he began drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana," she added.

Deborah said she met Clement at Obuasi during the Covid-19 lockdown when she visited her family, but refused his love proposal because of past experience in a relationship.

She, however, had to obliged later because Clement promised to take care of her.

“Anyone who knows Clement knows how nice and decent he is," says one eyewitness.

According to Ausgustine Apalbe, Clement would attempt to help anyone in the house and his first impression came with the most beautiful personality.

Madam Apalbe was the first to witness the attack on Deborah after Clement returned from a political rally on the night of November 29.

"I saw him stabbing Deborah with a pair of scissors," she said.

Meanwhile, Deborah is still on admission and looks forward to paying her hospital bills and recovering so she can get back to her sewing business.
