The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) says its candidate President Akufo-Addo has demonstrated in four years that he is committed to fighting corruption than John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The fight against corruption, according to the governing party, is safer in the hands of the sitting president, than in the hands of the former president who has demonstrated by deeds, that he is a corrupt politician.

Addressing a press conference, former Director of Communication of the NPP Nana Akomea said, cancellation of the controversial and defective PDS contract shows that president Akufo Addo is committed to fighting corruption.

On the controversial Agyapa Royalties agreement, Nana Akomea says the president in demonstrating his commitment to fighting corruption, has directed that the contract be taken back to Parliament for reconsideration following the corruption risk assessment conducted by the former Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu.

The two instances according to the NPP, are in sharp contrast of the 'inertia that characterised the fight against corruption' during the era of former President Mahama.

Referencing the infamous Ford gift saga in 2016, Nana Akomea said former President Mahama directly engaged in acts that indicted him when he was President.

The Party also referenced the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency saga, and the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority saga as corrupt deals which had then President Mahama deeply involved.

The governing Party said considering those acts, it will be a grave mistake for Ghanaians to bring back John Mahama when they go to the polls on December 7, 2020.
