The National Communications Officer of the NDC says the governing NPP is attempting to deceive the citizenry even though President Akufo-Addo has been captured on camera for taking bribe.
Sammy Gyamfi's comment comes after the NPP, led by the Zongo Minister, Dr Mustapha Hamid at a press conference dispelled the allegation that President Akufo-Addo has taken a $40, 000 bribe in order not to sack the Urban Roads Director.
According to Dr Hamid, the video is of a 2016 campaign donation to then-candidate Akufo-Addo but the NDC has doctored it to create an impression that President Akufo-Addo is using his office to take bribes.
But speaking on Joy FM's Top Story Wednesday, Mr Gyamfi stressed that the video clearly showed President Akufo-Addo "gladly collecting money with his two hands" with which the NPP is trying so hard to conceal.
He insisted that the video has not been doctored and challenged the NPP to produce empirical evidence that indeed, the NDC had modified the video.
"Our friends in the NPP must learn to credit the people pf this country with some intelligence. We are not zombies who cannot read in between the lines and seperate truth from lies.
"Ghanaians are very discerning and when they see a doctored tape, they know it is a doctored tape," he stated.
Meanwhile, Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has castigated the NDC for falsely accusing the President of taking bribe.
According to the Information Minister, the NDC is just tarnishing the image of President Akufo-Addo to resuscitate its collapsed campaign.
“Whilst we are not surprised by the new low by the opposition candidate and his party, we remind Ghanaians that they should expect more of such falsehoods and fabrications in the days leading up to the election.
“It has become clear that candidate Mahama’s failed campaign now sees fake news and fabrications, as well as an amendment of their earlier promises as the only hope to salvage what is going to be another decisive victory for President Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party,” he stated.
