The Volta Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Joseph Homenya, says the party would consolidate its gains in the December 7 polls.
The NPP recorded a 39.85% increase in its votes in a region deemed as the World Bank of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC). It had 101,084 votes against 60,802 votes in 2016.
The Energy Minister, John Peter Amewu, used a development approach to woo constituents of Hohoe to elect him to represent them in Parliament.
Speaking to Joy News after the declarations of results, Mr Homenya said the NPP would replicate the strategy which helped annex the Hohoe seat in other parts of the Volta Region.
This, he believes, would be a win-win for people in the region and the party since there would be accelerated development while the NPP would also see growth in its membership.
He lauded the Hohoe Constituency for accepting and approving the development approach of Mr. Amewu by electing him as the only NPP Member of Parliament in the NDC stronghold.
Mr Homenya emphasised that Mr Amewu would deliver on the mandate granted him "for the people to see that indeed when you try alternatives, you get the best out of it."

The Volta Regional Women's Organiser, Afi Adzagbo, said the party would go all out to maintain the Hohoe seat for the NPP "till thy kingdom comes".
"I will always remind him (Mr. Amewu) of his promises, especially his priority to empower women and provide jobs for the youth. I am confident he would deliver on the promises", she stressed.
