The National House of Chiefs is urging all Ghanaians to partake in the ongoing vaccination exercise taken up by the government in the fight against the coronavirus.
In a press release sighted by JoyNews, the President of the House, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyedi II indicated that despite the procurement of some vaccines, the necessary safety protocols should be observed and practised.
That is the wearing of facemasks, washing and sanitizing of hands periodically and ensuring social distancing recommended by health experts.
The National House of Chiefs also commended the government "for its rapid response to ensuring the availability of vaccines in the country."
The country, about a week ago procured some 600,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines through the COVAX Facility.
Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia together with the First and Second Lady of the Republic on Monday morning received their first jab of the vaccine at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.
Their action allays fears by some members of the general public that the Covid-19 vaccines are not safe for use.
In response to such claims, the Food and Drugs Authority has revealed that after several reviews, both the Sputnik V vaccine and Covishield procured by the government have been confirmed “efficacious, safe and of good quality” for use.
