The Member of Parliament for the Effutu Constituency has provided residents of Winneba in the Central Region with some social amenities after his re-election.
Mr. Afenyo-Markin, as part of his contribution on Friday, February 19, commissioned a new health directorate facility at Atekyedo and Osagyefo Kojo Beedu I Community Centre.
He also cut sod for the construction of a community library and an ICT centre, to enable students within the area have a conducive space to study and be abreast with IT related materials.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Afenyo-Markin said it has been his objective to bring development to the people of Winneba so as to ensure peace, enlightenment, and comfort.

“I am glad that the good Lord has given us life to witness this ceremony. Most often when there is sod-cutting, people ask when the project will be completed.

"My prayer has always been that God will enable us to complete projects we always commence so people can see that we made our dream a reality.

“It is now the time for Effutu to expand its facilities so that anyone coming to Central Region will say, Effutu is the gateway to Central Region."

According to the Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament, the construction of an ongoing hospital in the constituency will be commissioned by the end of March.

He added that the construction of a marketplace will commence during the next Aboakyere festival.

Also speaking at the event were the Municipal Chief Executive, John B Ninson, and Assemblyman Nana Asante who expressed gratitude to the Effutu MP for fulfilling promises he made to the people during the just-ended elections.

They emphasised that the great initiatives started by Mr. Afenyo-Markin must be made known to all.

“For the past 26 years, we have not seen any development in Kojo Beedu Community. If it is not for Honourable, we would not have come this far. He has done the needful and we thank him very much,” Mr Ninson said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Afenyo-Markin has urged the leaders of the Winneba community to ensure that the facilities set up by the government are maintained and protected.
