The Head of Settlement Studies at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Prof Divine Ahadzie has won a Real Impact Award.
He won the Driving the Impact Agenda category beating off stiff competition from other stalwarts worldwide.
Prof. Ahadzie becomes the first professor from an emerging economy to win the award.
Now in their third year, the Real Impact awards by the Emerald Group Publishing celebrates those in the research community who go above and beyond to make a difference.
The awards seek to raise the profile of individuals, teams and institutions that are committed to real impact through their research. It also recognizes innovative approaches to achieving real impact.
The awards are also meant to bridge the gap between research and practice by celebrating truly collaborative ways of working.
Prof. Ahadzie is therefore urging government to adopt strategies from research findings.
"Government should be proactive in implementing research findings. Otherwise it goes to undermine the great effort that researchers put in towards addressing national problems," he told Joy News.
Prof Ahadzie, as one of Ghana’s authorities in housing research, was a recipient of the 2018 Elsevier International Journal Award.
He led the invention of the burglar proof window, and has
been championing community resilience towards flood mitigation.
Professor Ahadzie has served as reviewer for the International Journal of Project Management for six (6) years.
In addition, he reviews the Journal of Construction Management and Economics and Journal of Engineering, Construction and Architectural Management.
He is also an editorial member of Structural Survey; Journal of Building Pathology and Refurbishment.
