A 20-year-old Fulani herdsman has been sentenced to a year and a half in prison for theft after pleading guilty to the offence.
The accused is said to have broken into a home in Tuna and made way with an Infinix mobile phone.
Reports indicate that the herdsman then proceeded to the market and sold the phone for an amount of GH₵80.00.
According to Chief Inspector Abdulai Awuni of the Tuna Police, the victim made a report to the police after noticing he had been robbed upon reaching home.
He indicated that the herdsman was arrested on Wednesday evening at about 5:46 pm after a resident in the area who happened to have purchased the stolen phone was informed by the complainant of his unfortunate incident.
His Lordship Andrew Prince Cudjoe who presided over the case ruled that the herdsman serve 18 months in prison to serve as a deterrent to the youth in Tuna who engage in similar vices.
