A man believed to be in his 40s has been allegedly lynched at Sehwi Nsawora after allegedly shooting his wife at 'Sehwi Sika ne Asem' in Akontombra District.
Both victims have been conveyed to the Wiawso Government Hospital mortuary by the police.
The man, identified as Kwame Dominic, is said to have shot his wife on Thursday evening after a misunderstanding between them.
Sources say that the wife, identified as Mercy Mintah, 38, threatened to divorce the husband during a quarrel.
She then parked her belongings and decided to leave for her family house at Akrukruwa, a community near 'Sika ne Asem'.
On her way, her husband met her on the road and supposedly shot her to death.
The sources noted that Dominic could not be a man enough; hence he ran away after shooting his wife.
Unfortunately for him, luck was out of his side, and he was caught at Sehwi Nsawora, where he was mercilessly beaten to a pulp and subsequently gave up his life.
The Unit Committee Chairman of 'Sika ne Asem' also the son [not biological] of the deceased, Prince Bannor, told Adom News' Augustine Boah that “they have had a misunderstanding in the past three weeks.”
Meanwhile, the Chief of Sehwi 'Sika ne Asem', Nana Kwao Esiafam, said the entire community was in shock and grieved after hearing the sad incident.
“I understand the man met his wife by the roadside while she was leaving and said Mercy, I have asked you not to leave, but if you insist, you can go.
“They said he slapped her, then the woman noticed the gun and said I bought you a gun to kill meat, but if you say you will kill me, go ahead. Just then, the woman attempted to get the gun and got shot by the man,” the chief narrated.
Nana Kwao said such a tragedy has not been witnessed in their township before. However, they will perform rites to purify the community.
“This has never occurred in this town before; it has tarnished the image of this community."
