Children who face abuse in our society tend to have a hard time finding justice.
This is mostly because justice systems do not always fulfil their promise of fairness to the children, and in some occasions are altogether out of reach of children, who may have no knowledge of their rights, no means to contact a lawyer or no financial resources for legal fees.
Nor are justice systems necessarily equipped to fulfil children’s rights and needs.
Justice professionals – police, prosecutors, lawyers and judges – often lack the specialized training to support child survivors and victims, while, many more may not understand the gender-specific vulnerabilities children face when coming into contact with justice systems.
Today on The Law, host, Joseph Ackah Blay will be discussing 'Finding Justice for abused children.'
He will be joined in the studio by Marian Darlington, Lawyer, and Advocate for Children's rights, and Ramana Shareef, a Consultant at Rights of Children and Youth - World Future Council, Germany.
