It was an exciting contest that witnessed a lot of surprises right from round one to round five.
University Practice SHS took the lead until its dreams of qualifying for the next stage got thwarted by the Assin State College boys who came up mightier in the last round.
The lads didn’t say die even after placing second all through to the fourth round of the contest and gave meaning to the famous saying “last minutes are dangerous” when they toppled University Practice SHS.
Assin State College and University Practice SHS engaged in a nip and tuck competition as both sides demonstrated their prowess and intelligence in that friendly, yet fierce contest.
Eguafo Abrem SHS and Nsaba Presby SHS gave a beautiful fight though they could not garner the relevant scores.
At the end of the contest, Assin State College overtook University Practice SHS to win the race with a slim gap.
Contestants for University Practice SHS could not win any of the riddles in the fifth round but that gave their rivals, Assin State College, the chance to justify their qualification.
Things turned around for the Assin boys and their supporters in the Friday contest and joys could be seen everywhere in the room.
Assin State College garnered 36 points, followed by their close contenders University Practice SHS who got 32 points. Eguafo Abrem SHS got 25 points while Nsaba Presby SHS came last with 23 points.
It was the first contest in the Central region and took place on Friday, October 29.
