The Chief Justice was at Dormaa-Ahenkro earlier on Thursday to inaugurate the Child-Friendly Gender-based Violence Court (CF-GBVC), which is one of the four created by the Judicial Service in the country.
The CF-GBVC created with support from UNICEF is equipped with child-friendly equipment including; testifying and children playing rooms with books and toys to meet desirable standards.
It is located within the local Circuit Court building which has been newly refurbished as part of the funding support by UNICEF.
Mr. Eric K. Aboyer, the Dormaa Central Municipal Director of Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) said the presence of the CF-GBVC would facilitate expeditious hearing of cases involving child offenders to ensure speedy dispensation justice in the interest of children.
Mr. Aboyer commended the CJ and the UNICEF, saying “with the CF-GBVC I’ve now become relieved because I have to be traveling to the Magistrate Court at Wamfie, Dormaa East for enforcement of child maintenance cases”.
Mr. Patrick Adjei, a staff of the National Commission for Civic Education said the perpetrators of offences regarding child-abuse and gender-based violence would be reduced drastically.
