Five vehicles have been involved in an accident on the Legon-Okponglo stretch on Wednesday morning.
The five vehicles, including a waste tanker, two saloon cars, a sprinter bus and a truck, ground to a halt after they all knocked each other in a linear clash.
The accident temporarily froze the movement of other vehicles plying the affected route. The difficulties in the movement continued for a while until the eventual arrival of the police.
As of now, no casualties have been formally reported, despite the seemingly fatal nature of the crash.
The police are also yet to formally disclose the cause of the accident.
Meanwhile, the total number of deaths recorded in the first nine months of 2021 due to road accidents stood at 2,126.
This, according to the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), represented an increase of 16.37% in this year's percentage of accidents, compared to the data of 2020, which had 1,826 lives lost between the same periods.
Commuters and drivers have, therefore, been urged to observe the relevant safety protocols on the roads to reduce the records of carnage on the roads.
