Israel's Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Shlomit Sufa says Israel is committed to assist configure the country's innovation agenda and make it the go-to market in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Speaking at the commencement of the Ghana Digital Innovation Week on Monday, November 22, Shlomit Sufa explained that the intervention will enable this continent to address some of its digital drawbacks.

"The state of Israel is ready to join all other relevant stakeholders in implementing this agenda. We would like to join in configuring the innovation paradigm of Ghana to make it the go-to market and ecosystem in Sub-Saharan Africa to address some of Africa's digital economy drawbacks."

She added that this is "key to build a Ghana where digital innovation becomes the norm and main strength of approaching critical economic and social initiatives and interventions that touch people's lives and assures an enabling environment for businesses to thrive."

According to Shlomit Sufa, Israel stands in a position to offer assistance since it has been through turmoil and emerged strong when it comes to innovation and digitalization.

"The state of Israel prides itself as a start-up nation driven by high-tech innovation. We have a country that has emerged from the dessert sands without natural resources," she said.

Israel is home to start-ups such as Agrotech, Hightech, Biotech. These achievements she noted, are the result of Isreali government's efforts in supporting research and development by collaborating with academia and the industry.

In 2020, there were workshops and training sessions by Israel for high-level partnership participants from various ministries to aid government's digital agenda.

Mrs. Sufa also revealed that Israel's Trade and Economic Commission has also been working tirelessly to support Ghana's digital innovation agenda and since 2018, have been working hard to continue to promote business to business opportunities in fields such as cyber security, innovation, agriculture and digital health.

"We envisage the need for us to collaborate with the relevant stakeholders in Ghana to support on structuring and shaping the innovation ecosystem for development," she reiterated.
