Gospel musician, Mary Ghansah has entreated her fellow singers to concentrate on their passion for God's work in order to pave way for blessings in their activities.

Speaking in an interview with Fifi Folson on Up-Close, a new personality-focused segment on Joy FM’s ‘The Reason is Jesus’, she advised gospel musicians to desist from actions and utterances that do not invoke the presence of God in their ministrations.

According to her, some new gospel songs lack spiritual impact as most musicians seek to please people for their personal gains.

"Those days, we were singing the word of God mostly because of the inspiration; we read and the song comes in the form of melody so if you do a song like that it is scriptural. This time, there have been a lot of acronyms."

"People can sing and produce certain sounds so I don’t know whether they are part [of the song or] they drive away demons but then when you are ministering, you can’t play around it and expect God to ‘move’ at the same time," she said.

Rev. Ghansah further noted that "sometimes, in the attempt to please people or maybe to be accepted, we stand in the middle; we are doing gospel but we are a little bit secular so that when there are parties we can also be called upon."

She wants musicians to be cautious of what they sing and be inspired by the Holy Spirit to make the right moves in their career.

"We must be careful. God is depending on us. He is looking up to us and we can’t afford to play with church. We need to take our position, we need to stand where God wants us to stand. We can’t play and expect God to move."
