Politician John Agyekum Kufuor who became Ghana's president from 2001 to 2009 is a year older as he turns 83 today.
Ghanaians on social media have expressed their gratitude for his leadership and showered well-wishes on him for his contribution to the development of the country.
They prayed for good health and long life for the former leader popularly known as "Gentle Giant" with many describing his legacy as unmatched.
Among those who have celebrated former President Kufuor is Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.
"Sir, we celebrate you for your service to your country. Chop cake," the Information Minister tweeted.
