When Richard Commey fights Vasiliy Lomachenko at the Madison Square Garden tonight in a lightweight contest, JoySports Hans Mensah Andoh will be there.
Andoh has been in New York feeding us with vibes from the Ghanaian's camp and believes Commey can pull a surprise as the Accra-born fighter aims for a chance at the title once more.
"It is what is. I gotta do what I gotta do," Commey tells Andoh ahead of the fight against the respected Ukrainian boxer.
"I’m feeling good. I’m very excited. This is my second time coming here. The last time didn’t work out well for me [against Teofimo Lopez], so I have the opportunity to right the wrong."
Indeed, both the 34-year-old Ghanaian and his 33-year-old compatriot have one thing in common - they've been beaten by Lopez.
It is one of the draws of the fight, that the winner may get a crack at facing the American again soon.
Commey tells Andoh:"Losing is part of boxing, so regardless of how you lose, it’s all about coming back. So whatever happened with the Teofimo fight, it is what it is and I took it as a man."
Lomachenko was in peak condition as he weighed in at 134.4lbs, while Commey was also inside the limit at 134.2lbs ahead of their fight at 2am GMT on Sunday.
"He has big power and he has reach, experience, so for me it will be a very interesting fight for fans," Lomachenko said of Commey.
