The President of the Institute of Directors, Ghana (IoD-Ghana), Rockson Dogbegah has urged newly inducted members and fellows of the Institute to be ambassadors of the Ghana Beyond Aid agenda.

According to him, it is important for members and fellows of the institute to help spread the gospel of good corporate governance, become great ambassadors and help to link the narrative of ethical leadership in corporate spheres especially as the country hosts the African Continental Free Trade Centre.

Speaking at the induction ceremony of the new fellows and members via zoom, Friday, December 17, he stated that with resolute focus and positive energies to push towards improving the culture of good corporate governance, the IoD-Ghana will be able to aggressively grow its membership hence ensuring good corporate governance in both private and public sectors to meet the demands of the AfcFTA.

“Ladies and gentlemen, we must be mindful of the fact that we need a critical mass to change the conduct of business, you know, at the country for the better. We all want to see Ghana Beyond Aid,” he said.

He stated that the IoD-Ghana platform was an opportune platform for networking and learning from global best practices.

“In this probably many opportunities abound including the platform for networking amongst your peers. Director practitioners are able to remain updated in their knowledge, keep up with development in their areas of practice and enhance their fitness to practice, which also enhances professional satisfaction,” he said.

“The strategic direction of the networking platform. Therefore, is, the knowledge and skills of IoD get our members, practicing as director practitioners by addressing the needs and filling competency gaps to ensure a high sense of professionalism,” he added.

Rockson Dogbegah stated the Institute’s resolution to ensure Director practitioners develop and excel in their fields.

“We also remain committed to our strategy and will work hard to position the Institute, as the foremost in the provision of assorted corporate governance services, including training for new and old board members, conducting board performance appraisals and provide a directory for the placement of suitable members in both public and private sector and advocating for good corporate governance through policy interventions and reports as directors,” he said.
