The country’s active Covid-19 cases have increased to 13,025, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has said.
In its latest update, the Service said as of December 31, 2021, a total of 1,084 new cases were recorded, while three people succumbed to the virus.
Per the Services’ data, there have been 22 severe cases, with 4 in critical conditions.

GHS added that 132,869 people have recovered and have been discharged.
The new cases bring the country’s cumulative case count to 147,203, with 1,309 deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country in March 2020.
The Greater Accra Region leads the chart with new infections, followed closely by Ashanti Region.
Already, health experts have declared that the country is officially experiencing the fourth wave.

The Director of Public Health at the Service, Dr Franklin Asiedu Bekoe, also warned that the situation will worsen due to the disregard of the Covid-19 protocols during the Christmas festivities.
