The Reverend Dr Lawrence Tetteh, Founder, and President of the Worldwide Miracle Outreach has advised parliamentarians in the country not to politicise the electronic transaction levy which has become an issue of national interest when the debate begins in parliament.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Kofi Nimo a community in the Akyemansa District in the Eastern Region, Dr Tetteh said the E-levy has become a national issue and it was important for the lawmakers to address the issue devoid of partisan politics.
Dr Tetteh mentioned that, the parliamentarians represented their constituents at parliament and that any decision they would arrive at, should be in the interest of the country and not their various political parties.
According to the Worldwide Miracle Outreach President, parliament should discuss the electronic levy issue with a collective interest of ensuring the country benefited as far as development is concerned.
He mentioned that consensus building was very key in developing a country adding that the onus lay in the hands of the parliamentarians to do what was right and in the interest of Ghanaians.
The issue surrounding the electronic levy became an issue of national interest when the Government through the Finance Minister during the presentation of the 2022 budget statement, sought to levy every electronic transaction to rake in revenue for developmental purposes, but the move has received some stiff opposition by the minority caucus in parliament.
