Some 35 wooden structures at Darkuman Black Park have been razed to the ground after a fire outbreak on Wednesday evening.

Motorcycles, tricycles and other personal belongings have all been lost to the fire.

According to sources, smoke billowed through the neighborhood as a result of the fire caused by a burning refuse.

About 175 residents are counting their losses after the unfortunate incident.

Speaking to JoyNews, some victims of the devastating fire, who were hopelessly going through the rubble, recounted their losses and appealed to authorities to come through for them with relief items.

“The rooms were 35; they were burning refuse behind the houses including ours. My husband and I could not retrieve any of our belongings from the room…all our assets have been burnt.”

“We have traders who deal in tricycles and motorbikes. Normally, we keep our money at home, we don’t save at the bank; so, you can imagine how much money have been burnt through this fire. What is left for me is the cloth that I have on me currently; apart from this, I wasn’t able to salvage anything from the fire,” some affected residents told JoyNews.

A resident disclosed that he has lost GH¢7,900.

The latest outbreak follows another incident on February 4, which destroyed a two-storey building near the Internet Protocol Multimedia Communications (IPMC) tower at the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange (Circle).

Investigations have commenced into the incident.
