A 63-year-old resident of Assin Ninkyiso in the Central Region is battling for his life after he was struck with a cutlass by a drinking spot operator.
Over the weekend, Akwasi Appau engaged in a scuffle with the operator, Wofa Yaw, popularly known as "Kofie-Kowu" over a misunderstanding on amount of money to be given to him as change.
Assemblyman for the area, Villinke Mohammed, who confirmed the incident told AdomNews that Mr. Appau expected his change after purchasing a drink, but Wofa Yaw could not get smaller denominations and decided to keep the money.
His decision did not sit well with Mr. Appau, who consequently bit Wofa Yaw's finger. After onlookers intervened and brought the situation under control, Wofa Yaw went for a machete and struck Mr. Appau on the cheek.
He was subsequently admitted to St. Francis Hospital in Assin Fosu for treatment.
Currently, Wofa Yaw has been arrested and Mr. Appau has been transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi due to the severity of his injury.
