Executive Director of the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE), Abena Amoah has challenged society to unlearn certain biases that undermine the efforts of women.
Her utmost concern is with society defining the worth of a woman by their marital status or their ability to have kids.
"If a man chooses not to have a family, he's seen as the 'hard to get' guy, the one people are a bit envious of and yet society sees something wrong with a woman who chooses that - she's desperate. There are women who choose not to have kids, let's respect that," she said on the Super Morning Show on Tuesday.

Her comment was part of discussions on the International Women's Day edition of the show that centered on various biases women are subjected to.
International Women's Day is marked every year on March 8 to commemorate the social, political, and economic achievements of women.
Women in different parts of the world use this day to come together to celebrate one another and rally for equal treatment and representation.
This years' International Women's Day is being marked on the theme "Breaking The Bias," thus, women are being challenged to explore and strive to attain success at male-dominated ventures.
Mrs. Amoah lamented the fact that women who rise to the top are often described as people who slept with men on their way to the top.

"Professionally, on the biases, in spite of everything - all the hours a woman puts in; deliver on timelines and meeting all the obligations, a lot of the time people say she only rises to this point because she's sleeping with a man.

"We get the positions, we get the contracts, we get the work because she slept with someone, but that's a very very negative bias that is dehumanising of women's efforts and the hard work that women put into the work they do and I think that's one of the biases we need to tackle and we need to unlearn them," the GSE boss said.
