A former second lady of the Republic of Ghana, Matilda Amissah-Arthur has urged women to be visible at the workplace, saying visibility is not about seeking attention, but about taking purposeful action and creating value.

According to her, women should aspire to go far in their careers, urging them to focus on their professions.

She disclosed this at Deloitte Ghana’s edition of International Women’s Day. Her address focused on the importance of visibility for women in the workplace.

Mrs. Amissah-Arthur highlighted the challenges many women face, such as waiting for their work to be recognised or hesitating to speak up for fear of being perceived as boastful.

She noted that these barriers, shaped by societal expectations and internalised beliefs, can prevent talented individuals from reaching their full potential.

Her message encouraged all to overcome self-doubt and the ‘visible fear’ that can hold people back, and to share their stories authentically in order to inspire and empower others.

The event also featured a panel discussion with three women Associate Directors, Nina Korley, Yahan Prah and Edith Mould, who shared their personal journeys and the challenges they overcame to reach their current positions.

Their stories of resilience, growth, and leadership provided valuable insights and encouragement to all the ladies who attended.
