There has been a surge in Covid-19 cases in Ghana this month, putting the country on the path to its fifth wave since the outbreak in March 2020.
Active cases have crossed the 1,000 infections mark with 120 persons contracting the disease in one day, according to data from the Ghana Health Service.
Currently, active Covid-19 cases in the country stand at 1,064.
The Greater Accra Region is topping the chart with 923 active cases and is distantly followed by the Ashanti Region with 47 cases.

Cumulatively, 163,332 Covid-19 cases have been recorded in Ghana since the country recorded a case in March 2020.
Meanwhile, Ghanaians are being urged to get vaccinated.
As Covid-19 active cases soar, the Service is worried efforts to clamp down on the disease will be zilch as a section of Ghanaians are unwilling to vaccinate.
According to the Service, 16,396,820 doses have been administered.
The figure for persons fully vaccinated is 6,950,095 while those who have received one dose stand at 10,223,563.
