MTN Y'ello Care

Y'ello Care month has been climaxed with an Information Communication Technology ICT training for pupils and teachers of the Dansoman "A" cluster of schools in Accra.

The annual event aims to secure high participation levels among MTN staff in high-impact social projects to uplift and empower the local communities in which the company operates.

This year’s event was under the theme "empowering communities to Drive Economic Recovery" and aims to inspire MTNers to heed the call to upgrade the digital skills of local communities in order to drive economic activities and participation through focusing on digital job creation

This is linked to MTN's strategic priority to build digital skills for digital jobs aligned to the company's ambition 2025 strategy.

Speaking to Joy Business, Acting Chief Corporate Service Officer of MTN, Nana Kofi Asare, said the move is part of MTN’s strategy to leverage technology to build and enrich lives.

"We are currently like a telecom but as part of ambition 2025 we are moving to becoming a techno. The world is gone digital and the only way for us to catch up is also to help others to catch up because we believe in shared value".

Municipal Chief Executive of Ablekuma West, George Cyril Bray commended MTN for its kind gesture and continuous support for society and urged other organisations to emulate the move.

"What touches me the most is the theme that there is life after Covid-19 to take pupils, market women through technology that they can put to use after COVID and be relevant in society, I think it’s an effort worth commending"

The team of officials and its partner, Npontu Technologies, took pupils and teachers through basic technology Apps without going online and donated some gadgets to the school.

They advised teachers to leverage on technology to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.

Headmistresss of the Dansoman "4" Basic school, Ophelia Sakaa Gyamerah and some beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the company and asked that the gesture is done more often.

Since its inception in 2007, the initiative has impacted millions of people and communities across the continent.
